The Green Scapular comes from an apparition of Mary to a Daughter of Charity in the 1840s. This Sister was told that Jesus wanted to increase our understanding of, love for, and consecration to Mary’s tender and Immaculate Heart. Mary gave her this Scapular, promising healing of mind, body, and spirit. It isn’t like other Scapulars that are based off of a religious habit (like the Brown Scapular), there’s no special enrollment or blessing needed, and you don’t even need to wear it but can simply place it somewhere in proximity to yourself or the person you are interceding for and pray it on their behalf (people hide them in family member’s houses and pray for them, keep them somewhere in their own house, carry it in their purse, etc.).
 
The simple prayer that is prayed every day for yourself or the person you are interceding for is this: “Immaculate heart of Mary, pray for us (or person’s name) now and at the hour of our death.”
 
The only other requirement is your confidence in Mary’s tender, beautiful Heart. Miracles upon miracles have been witnessed and experienced through her sweet Heart and this gift of hers.
