Miraculous Novena to Saint Therese: showering roses from heaven

Beginning September 22nd, faithful all around the world begin the miraculous novena to Saint Therese of Lisieux, also known as Saint Therese of the Child Jesus, or the Little Flower.

Saint Therese said that she wanted to spend her heaven doing good on earth, sending down a shower of roses from heaven. And so she does. Each year as people entrust their big and little petitions to the intercession of Therese, she showers people with roses as signal graces, as signs of God's will and love in their lives.

Therese was known for her "revolutionary" way of following Christ. In an era full of Jansenism, Therese proposed as a fruit of her own intimacy with and trust in God's merciful love a Little Way of rising to the heights of holiness and union with God. Her Little Way ultimately consisted of total abandonment to the Merciful Love of God. I will suspend my desires to dive more deeply into her theology at this time, but watch for the new blog that will be released on her feast day (October 1st) full of excerpts from her writings (including letters from the archives of Lisieux), and more on her life and Little Way. O Little Therese of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love.

O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God to grant the favors I now place with confidence in your hands ..

St. Therese, help me to always believe as you did in God’s great love for me, so that I might imitate your “Little Way” each day.
