This great feast seems to be without need of an introduction, due to its popularity and practice. Suffice it to say that Jesus appeared countless times to Sister Faustina Kowalska in Poland with messages and an image of His Divine Mercy. He gave her the mission of spreading this message of His Divine Mercy to the world, and it has since become one of the most popular devotions among Catholics.

You can find all of Jesus' words to Faustina in her own Diary which was published. It is over 6oo pages long, but broken into small diary entries and messages from Christ to her, and it is well worth to read or even occasional opening to read a small passage. Below are 5 simple quotes from this Diary, from Jesus to Saint Faustina about His Divine Mercy.

  1. “My daughter, have fear of nothing; I am always with you. All your adversaries will harm you only to the degree that I permit them to do so. You are my dwelling place and my constant repose. For your sake I will withhold the hand which punishes; for your sake I bless the earth.”

  1. “Proclaim that mercy is the greatest attribute of God. All the works of My hands are crowned with mercy.”

  1. “Let no one doubt concerning the goodness of God; even if a person’s sins were as dark as night, God’s mercy is stronger than our misery. One thing alone is necessary; that the sinner set ajar the door of his heart, be it ever so little, to let in a ray of God’s merciful grace, and then God will do the rest.”

  1. “Tell souls that from this fount of mercy souls draw graces solely with the vessel of trust. If their trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity. The torrents of grace inundate humble souls. The proud remain always in poverty and misery, because My grace turns away from them to humble souls.”

  1. “My Heart overflows with great mercy for souls, and especially for poor sinners. If only they could understand that I am the best of Fathers to them and that it is for them that the Blood and Water flowed from My Heart as from a fount overflowing with mercy.”

I pray you are touched by Jesus' Merciful Love on this beautiful feast, and that you always turn to His mercy in unbounded trust in His goodness and love for you.
