Brown Scapular Testimony: "pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death"

This is a testimony about Our Lady and her Brown Scapular, and while it isn't a story full of extraordinary miracles, it is a powerful testament to the reality of this devotion and taking Mary as one's mother. It is the fruit of hidden years of fidelity and love, and at the moment of this young mother's death, Mary's fulfillment of her promise - showing her own fidelity and love as a true mother.

The writer shares that one day at daily Mass, they kept seeing the face of their priest friend while praying and felt such a strong prompting to pray for him. This continued through to receiving Jesus in the Eucharist and the urge only became stronger, with a particular sense that someone was dying. Once Mass was over, the writer shares that they ran out to call this priest to see what had happened. The priest shared that he had just been to see a young mother who was suddenly on the brink of death, and that he was able to hear her confession and give her Apostolic Pardon. It apparently had been a miracle that she even survived long enough for this.

The next day, the priest called back to share that this young woman had passed away.

At her funeral, her parish priest shared in his homily that this woman prayed a Rosary every single day, and that she faithfully wore the Brown Scapular. When the doctors and nurses tried to take it off near her death, she would not let them; and even when she was unconscious her family and friends kept her wish and wouldn't let anyone remove it from her. By her passing, she was able to receive the Eucharist, tha Sacrament of Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, and Apostolic Pardon. As this testimonial states so beautifully, "at the hour of her death, Our Lady kept her promise".

This woman spent days, weeks, and years faithfully wrapping herself in Mary's mantle, placing herself and her cares into the Heart of her Mother, praying hundreds of thousands of Hail Mary's, each one ending with "pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death". And here, in her hour of death, every promise Our Lady has given to those who give themselves to her in this way came to fruition. She passed in the embrace of our Blessed Mother and Holy Mother Church.
